- HMUK is the country’s leading independent music charity for musicians of all genres – at every stage of their career and life
- Helps over 2,000 individual musicians each year
- Reliant on fundraising and historically successful but needed to rebuild fundraising capacity after a period of change
- We audited the fundraising and wrote a complete review to go alongside a new business strategy
Founded in 1921, HMUK helps emerging professionals to develop their talent, existing professionals who hit a crisis in their lives, supports musicians with a long-term illness and supports retired musicians. The charity depends almost entirely on philanthropic donations but, due to significant management and staff changes, active fundraising had reduced leading to over-reliance on historic income streams. In 2015 the new Chief Executive recognised this danger and asked us to review fundraising, identify opportunities and produce a strategy to fit his vision for the future.
